Boys Are Dear

By Christie Lund Coles

Boys are dear, but they’re off to find
New worlds to conquer beyond the fence,
For wherever wonder and mystery lie
They seem to know with their boys’ sixth sense.

They must build a plane and fish and swim,
Play with pebbles in silver water.
Boys are dear … but for company
A mother needs a daughter.

  1. Some women don’t have daughters. Sons can be good company also.
