Pioneer Pix: 1947 Postage Stamp

  1. Nice. I don’t remember 3¢ postage, but I seem to recall the horror of postage going to a dime. At least, that is how my parents reacted.

  2. Goodness; with the “Forever” postage, I don’t even know what a first-class stamp costs!

That’s a great image. It reminds me of the Currier and Ives “Rocky Mountains” pattern. Every so often I drop by the local thrift shop, and several years ago happened to see two cake plates in that pattern. How could I pass them up, particularly at two dollars a piece? It’s a fun way to serve a cake or insalata caprese. (Fresh tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, and basil with a side of pioneers and Indians.)
