You could tell a mile away how the storyline would go, but even so, what a child reader would learn about another culture is more interesting and valuable than the plot.

I always liked the ones that told about other cultures best. I didn’t know that Megan was an old Welsh name. I thought it was made up and became a fad in the 80s.
