First chapter: automatic rifles. Second chapter: bloody fisticuffs. And no moralizing over either. What a gloriously uncorrelated piece of fiction!

But…what happened to their last name? I thought he was John Wayne in the last series? Maybe the author took some license and changed it? Still, it’s a fun read.

Nothing of value to add, but my grandparents lived in Ogden, so I’m enjoying the detail, too. (Off of 2nd St., probably about two miles northwest of where this story takes place.)

It always amazes me that the street names and places are the same here in the 21st century as they were back in the 1800s, even though so much has changed.

Love the story. I found a picture of the Broom’s Bench school, taken in 1890, which was sure interesting to find.

Cool! The level of specific detail made me suspect that that was based on the author’s familiarity with the area.

Ogden is my home town, and I know exactly where that old Mound Fort school was. It’s been replaced a couple of times, but there is still both a Mound Fort elementary and a Mound Fort middle school. I had an older brother go to Mound Fort, but my other brother and I went to newer schools. It’s fun to have John and Prudy back.
