Ah! That’s probably it, Alison. I may have mistyped “coice” and it autocorrected to “voice” instead of “choice.” (I’ve had a dickens of a time getting this comment entered without three words — including “autocorrected” — being autocorrected to something just as nonsensical.)

Does anyone know what the phrase “she treated him as though he were the gentleman of her voice” means?

“gentleman of her voice” is a phrase I don’t think I’ve heard before.
