What a sweet story! I've noticed a lot of comments and finally got caught up. It's an enjoyable read. I didn't notice if there was any discussion of the author. She's in the Mormon Literature database, and I'm guessing this is the correct woman (obituary). The information there gives some interesting insights into the story.
