I good reminder of just how very blessed we are. I come from a long line of teachers who have loved, and fought for, their students. Small stories, like this, are part of the jewels of a teacher, worth a diamond's ransom in the market place of heaven.

It is the kind of writing that often sparks a poem, or poems, as the case may be. I tried to keep the feel of the story as I crafted the poem. I can't truly write in the style of the time, but I wanted to make a response, from the view of a child in her classroom. Teachers really do change lives.
