Even though it has been a few days, the recent updated health information make that post, and a number of prompted decisions over the last month are seeming down right prophetic. Keepa is part of where I am calm enough to listen to promptings, and contains material rich in stories and language for the Holy Ghost to connect with.

Julia, you’ve brought a new energy to Keepa in the past couple of months. We’ve always cultivated a community here that welcomes everybody who loves the Mormon past — and yeah, some commenters tend to be very generous in adding value to even something like a children’s story. Ain’t it great?

I am always amazed and a little dazzled at the recall of Mormon history that resides in the posts and comments on Keepa! Sheesh, I sometimes really wonder if I belong here. You are all very good to put up to me.

Tuba. Ha. I think Lot Smith was in Tuba City later in his life, but it was after the period of colonization, and I can’t imagine why anyone would go down to the Little Colorado region without a mission call.

And who is this author, anyway. I don’t recognize either of the family names from the region. Let’s see. She was from Provo. A children’s author. An educator.

Helen’s mother was also from Provo. Her father was a Hinckley born at Cove Fort. Helen seems to be a third or fourth cousin of Gordon B. Hinckley.

Her husband’s family lived almost entirely in the Ogden area. They were English and don’t seem to be connected to either Dan Jones or Dan W. Jones.

A quick glance at Family Tree doesn’t show any Arizona connections, and from the contents of the first installment, the historical accuracy of this story could be kinda limited.

Well, two things I know I got right. Lot Smith ain’t at Tuba City, and the dam will wash out.

On the other hand, it is Mormon fiction, and at this stage, how much concern is there for historical accuracy? For all we know, Lot Smith is building a huge hydroelectric dam at Tuba City on the river…wait, there is no river at Tuba City. Or is that no Tuba at River City? No, it’s a swell pool, swimming pool, right? We got trouble, I think.

Hopelessly mixing my metaphors or meta something, I suspect.

Really? The older the serial, the stranger it is likely to be. It will be interesting in a serial aimed at primary age children how this all plays out in 12 parts.
