I never knew about this either.

I certainly remember his death. It was such an event in the newspapers, and my family, that I attempted to write a suitably solemn poetic eulogy in my 9 year-old’s diary. I can only recall the opening lines: “The day Churchill died, it saddened the world/The noblest of countries kept their flags unfurled.”

Also I am a proud former Churchill Charger: the Jr. High being built above Wasatch Blvd at the time was named in his honor.

This is new to me. I have always admired Churchill, though. I’m glad to learn about his protection of the Mormon missionaries in Britain.

I didn’t know about the anti-Mormon issues in England. It is good to know that there were people who could see beyond the hate.
