The fact that it was uplifting also made it more likely to be remembered and reread when inspiration was needed. I enjoy the articles in the Ensign, but the stories are what gives me strength.

The stories in the old Magazine are so different that I wonder sometimes whether they will appeal to anybody. I’m glad to know that they do.

Apart from the stories themselves, the response is an indication of how widespread the appeal of the Magazine was.
