I do remember the onions. Thanks for another story as well. I still think that the onion story was particularly applicable to me. I would have been at least that bad if I was sent to harvest onions.

Oh the 24th! How I miss it. When I finally get back to Utah I'm going to throw the biggest 24th of July parties ever! And every kind of Mormon and Utahn will be invited. I might have to rent out Derk's Field to hold everybody. What? It's still there isn't it?

Ardis, no worries about me getting lost. I just wish there was a way to make sure comments on old posts were more visible. There are so many great things that I find and am sad to not hear more thoughts on.

I'm selfish not to point this out, although I hate pointing it out: The complete file of the Relief Society Magazine, as well as other church publications, is available at archive.org. Someone like you, Julia, who has lots of hours to fill and loves to read, would no doubt enjoy prowling through the Magazine on your own. Other readers might, too.

Still, there's a lot of fun and community building, I think, in reading these old stories at the same time other Keepa'ninnies are reading them, knowing that somebody else is enjoying them and may be willing to share thoughts in the comments. In other words, I hope that most readers who enjoy these stories will keep reading them as they appear here, rather than abandoning us completely in order to devour all the old fiction on your own.

I don't know whether there are other stories with these same characters -- I was surprised to recognize this one in my stock of stories ready to post. I'll run a search, and if there are others we'll post 'em soon.

There are other Cathy and Theodore stories? Where do I find them? :-)

I really like that a ten year old is treated as having important spiritual experiences and thoughts. I had several deeply spiritual experiences the year I was ten, and the friend always seem disconnected from me after that. I would have related a lot more to a story told in such a matter if fact way, about someone I could see as like me.

I think it is great that adults accepted experiences of children as important enough to include in the RS magazine. I wonder if I can get a back subscription. I am soooooooo grateful for your work in sharing so much with those of us who would never have had another connection.
