Alison, I thought the beard was kind of cool, too. Amy, it was my few experiences with passenger lists, so I was still a little surprised, which now makes me approach all of them with some skepticism.

I think your experience with the passenger list is typical. They tend to be significantly less accurate then census records, and like census records, the information depends on the respondent and the person recording the information, and that person’s handwriting.
