This series is fascinating. The idea of actually preaching "without purse or scrip" seems so foreign to the present day. And yet they found room and board impressively often.

Are there any groups that still proselytize this way?

After he found out that we were Mormons he and his wife were in another room consulting together. When he came in he said that he was sorry but he didn’t believe that he could keep us.

This is interesting. I wonder if they commonly asked to say before making it clear they were Mormon.

Okay, this made my day:

She said she was in Globe, Arizona once and very sick and a Mormon woman cured her and she had great faith in it.
