A Doxology
A Doxology
By Edward S. Shaw
To God the Father let us raise
A universal song of praise:
To Jesus Christ, the sinner’s friend,
Let praise eternally ascend:
And be the Holy Ghost adored –
Co-worker with our God and Lord.
Let all creation find a tongue
To praise our God in thankful song.
(1860)

I very much like this. It is Long Meter Doubled (LMD) which means it could be sung to the tunes listed on page 408 of Hymns (1985), including A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief, I Know That My Redeemer Lives, Tis Sweet to Sing, and When Faith Endures. As a two verse hymn it would work with the Long Meter tunes as well.

This man wrote a second Doxology that I’ll post soon, too.
