Good Golly! I don't know where to start with this one. Big History as reflected in the lives of Little People, rushing by with the speed of a flip book.

Ardis, maybe you should start an illustration contest to go with these kind of stories? I'd sketch up some unsolicited submissions right now if I weren't in the current semester's death throes. As it is, this story has been a wonderful relief from these final weeks of endless grading and last minute essays that also try to cram everything in!

It's surprising that this serial, with all it's real-life family disfunction and the unvarnished characters, made the cut into publication in a church periodical. Soap opera, indeed. I'm enjoying it, and I think that those pre-correlation days must have been interesting times. Maybe the grass just seems greener...

Can't wait till somebody busts open one of those gourds.

Sister Stone seems to have a thing about khaki. She dropped mention of it in her story about the Havens.

Ardis, you were right. Things get worse. Jonas should have this sign put over the entrance to his property:

Omnes relinquite spes, o vos intrantes

[Hint: It is from Dante's Inferno]
