A Message from President George Albert Smith to the Children of the Church
.

“Boys and girls, I am happy to have this opportunity to speak to you. I know that in the not far-distant future I will finish my earth life, because if I live for another twenty years I’ll be an old man. I know that at that time I shall have to stand in the presence of our Heavenly Father and account for the things I have said and done in my life time. And realizing that, I want to say to you boys and girls – and I want you to remember that President Smith said it to you – that I know that God lives; I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world; and I know that the gospel was restored to the earth in these latter days through the Prophet Joseph Smith.

“It would be a serious thing for me to say these things if they were not true. But they are true and I am telling you because I love you and want to help you grow up to be good men and women, who love and live the truth.”

  1. Sitting here in McDonald’s (qualifying me as one of the children) waiting for my boy at his drum lesson, this brings tears to my eyes. Thanks!

  2. I confess that until recently I didn’t know much about Pres. Smith beyond his love for scouting. The more I learn about his life, though, and the more of his words I read, the more I grow to love the man.
