This ending was more satisfactory to me than most, if only because it didn’t require any drastic change of behavior in anyone. We simply needed to learn that Enid had been successful as a mother, and that Sharon was on her way to living as she had been taught. And now we can cheer for Enid and Bill as they start a new chapter.

That ended the way I needed it to. The ending was a little heavier on the heritage of faith than I expected since we didn’t hear so much about it along the way. But that’s okay. Enid kept her standards and her priorities, and she was lucky to have a daughter who embraced them.
