The Old Testament class in Rigby is taken on the steps of the old white tabernacle. I remember that grand old building. It was where we held all the events from high school graduations and baptisms.

It was next to our elementary school, and when they brought the wrecking ball to knock it down, we all went out on the lawn to watch it. It was replaced by a standard stake center. Oh, well.

I probably know some of the people too.

I enjoy these photos, too. It's great to see these that are further into the century.

The description "tracting in Brazil" caught me off guard. And seeing a little-bit younger Joseph Fielding Smith was fun.

Thanks.

Wilford Wood was my Great Grandmother Addie May's little brother. (Just another shout-out).

Also, those horseback Elders in Brazil were likely in Rio Grande do Sul or Santa Catarina as that's where the missionary work began - which was the area of my Porto Alegre Mission in the 1970s. The other clue is they are wearing coats (they are clearly in the south, in winter - June to August). Up until 1935, the language of the Brazilian Mission was German. Then they started with Portuguese with a full switch in 1939 when the Brazilian Government banned public meetings in German (well, for obvious reasons not having to do with Mormons). My source is at lds.org.br or: http://www.historiadaigreja.org.br/images/stories/historia/resumohistorico.pdf

kevinf, 1937 was the year that the Church purchased (through Wilford Wood) part of the original Nauvoo temple site. Although those documents on the table don't look like current legal papers (i.e., not a deed, or title insurance, or any newly typed documents), and so probably don't have anything to do with the temple lot purpose, I suppose Wood scooped up other historical artifacts while he was negotiating the purchase. It would be fun to know exactly what those papers are, wouldn't it?

I always enjoy seeing these pictures.

I wonder what the story was behind the "recent Illinois documents purchase?"
