We’re using this Thanksgiving as the day to dedicate our new house and farm. As part of the ceremony, we’re “raising our Ebenezer” like in 1 Samuel 7:10-12. It is a symbol of our gratitude to God for making it this far, a reminder of our covenant, and a new beginning. I’d like to know if anyone else has an Ebenezer.

I was just sent back in time to those warm family feelings at Grandma’s for Thanksgiving. It was the picture. At one Grandma’s, we sort of dressed up but not in Sunday best. But even at the other Grandma’s, where it was an old-fashioned farm kitchen meal (unless you were one of those who had to eat at the table on the porch) we THOUGHT we looked like this family. I guess that’s because it was the ideal from the church magazines. There’s nothing wrong in living for ideals as we remain grateful for what we have doing the best we can.

I’m trying to remember if we ever dressed in Sunday best for Thanksgiving dinner. But we were always thankful…
