I loved this story. This almost identical scenario is one I have seen play out twice in the lives of church members who I know. It is amazing how the Lord places His servants in the right places at the right times.

Thank you for sharing Ardis!

Not a great story, certainly, and not a well written one. Still, it has a Mormon flavor that I liked -- not just for its overtly Mormon story, but for the feeling I got of a woman sitting at her kitchen table trying to be creative, and the Magazine that gave her a taste of success. Don't know at all if that's an accurate picture since I know nothing about Edna May Irvine. Googling doesn't turn up anything about her, although there's quite a bit about her son Reed, who founded the conservative group "Accuracy in Media." (That's not an invitation, by the way, for comments attacking or supporting AIM's practices -- I merely note the connection.)
