I think the unexpected change of topic gave me mental whiplash. One minute it’s firesides and socializing and the next it’s no smoking.

I think the Church’s approach of not focusing on the sin is still being used, most recently in the anti-pornography book distributed to every man in the church “Let Virtue Garnish Thy Thoughts” which never once mentions p0rn.

I’m trying to remember but I can’t recall any fireside with an actual fire. Also, I don’t remember a lot of the messages from when I was a youth but I’m pretty sure they were about more than not smoking although not as helpful as they could have been on some other pressing issues. I do remember the dream of social interaction with young women hinted at in this picture (sigh) and all those awkward moments in reality – (sigh.) I’m just glad those teen years are long gone. (whew!)
