*jawdrop* That. . .that was a really, really well-written story. I was expecting some overly sanitized sunshine and daisies story like you'd find in the Friend or New Era, or even the Ensign on occasion. Instead, I find a story with real, complex, genuine characters. Do I agree with the "moral" of the tale? Eh, sorta, not really. But just. . .WOW. Did NOT expect that kind of quality writing in a church magazine.

Can we bring that back? ;)

Oh, there's no question that I'll go on posting these! They may not be great literature (most of them -- some are surprisingly good), but they're a lot of fun. Besides reading them objectively, I try to think what they might have meant to some LDS women when they were published.

I agree with Melanie in loving these stories. But okay, okay, I'll take one for the team here. Yes, it took her awhile to grow up: to see that Meredith really was happy with her decisions and to realize that happiness didn't come solely (heh heh) from endless rows of shoes (Imelda Marcos Complex).

But growing up doesn't mean that you have to take chances or that you have to stop liking your work or that you have to choose tight budgets over waiting or even that you need to choose Mitchell.

There. I said it.

As you were. ;-)

It's very childish, old fashioned and romantic, like it was taken out of an ancient Relief Society magazine, but I've never been cured from those silly stories, and never will. Please, more!
