Now *that's* what I'm talking about -- the thrill for me of learning that someone unexpectedly found a grandfather's name makes the effort of typing all those names worthwhile! Thanks, Steve.

When I first started scanning pictures, they virtually all came from the Juvenile Instructor which did not identify anyone beyond the very occasional Sunday School superintendent. Some of the other magazines did identify people, but when I eventually moved from the Juvenile Instructor, I kept up the pattern of merely showing pictures and didn't add what identifications were available.

But for some reason I did add the names to a post of missionary pictures, and the response was so great that I've decided to go on doing that. I still have many as-yet-unposted pictures in my files that probably had identifying captions which I didn't keep, and I'm extremely unlikely to go back and pick up those IDs. But from now on, my general practice will be to add identifications when they're available. They tend not to be available anyway for large Sunday School or ward groups, and magazines like the Children's Friend and Instructor tended not to ID people at any point.

So many pictures with names!! Does this represent a policy toward identifying people in photographs? Maybe an editorial staff change?

I have have my favorite corners of "Zion" and it's good to see that they're well represented. The family names in some of these military pictures betrays their upbringing (e.g. I'd bet my eye teeth the Miskin at Luke Field is from Eastern Idaho.)

Also, is the Ervil LeBaron in the Mexico missionary picture THE Ervil LeBaron of criminal/polygamist fame?
