Odd little installment in this series. I haven’t heard the word badinage used, like, maybe only once before. I had to look it up, finding it meant witty, humorous conversation.

Also, note to Ms. Bailey: Veins don’t pulse, they flow. Arteries pulse.

In regards to the Big Question, I chuckled at John’s response:

You have asked a question, honey, that wise men have asked since the beginning of time.

And then he goes back to sleep? No questions like, “What’s bugging you?” or any discussion of why this Big Question came up in the middle of the night? This should have been a big clue that John needs to listen more carefully to the new, changed Alyn. Sensitive husband FAIL. I would point out the Big Question has also been asked by some not so wise folks, and a few idiots, too.

Wait – is Alyn supposed to be a member of the church? (With the surname Benson getting thrown around, I’d assume so…) And is this supposed to be religiously didactic? This seems awfully light on answer’s to Life’s Big Questions.

And not just that it’s shorter, but that it jerks from one thing to the next. I felt, all of a sudden, like my 10-year old was telling this story.

I think it’s quite a bit shorter than most installments, too. Maybe this had originally been written as the end of the last chapter, or the opening of the next, and that installment was so long that they decided to chop off this much and make it its own installment?

This is a strange little installment. Had I been reading this each month I would have felt cheated by this one.
