There’s no particular Mormon aspect to this advertisement in a 1905 issue of the Juvenile Instructor. It’s just another wild and weird Daynes Jewelry ad that I thought might make you laugh on a Friday –
“Pioneer Jewelers” established in 1862. I thought everyone was too busy building temples and killing crickets back then to be worried about buying diamonds. Can’t even imagine the expense for the polygamist families.
I’m not too concerned about the size of that diamond–I figure a few hundred years at my wages and I’d have it paid off.
I am a bit worried about a lady with a finger that big, though!

“Jewelers and Opticians” — an interesting combination.

The optician part comes in where the special lens to take a close look notes: object in lens is much, much smaller than it appears….
