This was fun to read partly because of the sincerity and determination of this young man, and partly since I used to work across the street from Union Station (Depot) in Chicago and spent the first three years of my married life in LaGrange, Illinois.

This is an inspiring story. He never seems to doubt that he will get to Salt Lake. Apparently, he stayed in contact with his family in England, as he knew that his father had died.

Yeah, Steve, I probably shoulda broken that into two or ten chunks, huh?

Glad you enjoyed it, all, after wading through it. There’s something that seems so genuine about his words, like some of the other “in their own words” posted — he just tells his story without feeling the need to point out that what he does is in any way extraordinary.

Thanks for that added document, Researcher. It was hard enough just figuring out what his initials stood for, and I wasn’t able to go hunting for anything more. Trust you to find something, though.
