Actually, since the story ends without any hint of how all those potential love interests will work out, I think there should be a Keepa writing contest: write Part 12 of the story, and tie up all those loose ends. : )

Nah, now that Minnie’s gotten herself all soft and forgiving, she can finally declare her undying affection to Nat (Bishop Thompson’s off limits, since he has to be married to be a bishop). Then Paul can go marry Helen and Ann – well, Ann gets to be a kind old spinster for the rest of her life.

I’m going to throw in a vote for Aunt Minnie + Paul. It will be the final step in her redemptive process. From hating the Germans, to hating her brother, to hating his son; now she’s reconciled with her nephew, starting the process with her brother…

I wonder why they felt Hans had to paint the figures, anyway. Wasn’t it enough for him to carve them? Seems like painting could be done by someone else
