So it’s 1908 and you’re a jeweler in a marriage-minded place like Salt Lake City, and you have wedding rings to sell. Your mind naturally goes to images of hearts and flowers and doves and moonlight and romantic walks through the dewy meadow, right?

  6. I’m guessing that the “logic” behind this is that the ring is so wonderful it will help the suitor and Cupid to batter down and overcome any objections of Fair Lady … but still!

  7. As amazing as the picture is, the copy is equally goofy: “They cost no more than others charge you for those not so good.” What a ringing endorsement!

    As for advertisers making such, um, modest claims for their goods, here, especially the comments. Try not to fall asleep.
