reed, the Israel Parshall here is the third Israel in that chain. One of my brothers used to ask me to recite our genealogy so he could break in at that point with “… God is calling, calling thee from lands of woe!”

Ardis, one of my direct ancestors is Israel Parshall, as well. Israel Parshall, born 1712 – son of Israel Parshall, born 1680 – both born in New York. Same line, I guess?

One of the reasons that I am an American Mormon (or whatever) is not that I am happy with all that each term is associated with, but so much of who I am is a reponse to my American Mormonism.
