I've just received a note from a grandson of Elijah Arthur Morgan, who says that he is the last living grandchild, and that his own grandson is due in November and will share the name Elijah with his ancestor. I'm hoping to hear more about the family; if I do, I'll post it here.

Thanks for sharing my feelings about "ordinary" Saints living extraordinary lives. It has always been easier somehow for me to see the workings of God in the lives of people of the past than in my own life or those of living people. I may very well be surrounded by people whose lives parallel Ot's in some fashion, without my knowing about it.

Bonnie, I spend most of the day every day going through records of the LDS past. Sometimes I find a story ready-made in an old magazine or Church News, and simply rewrite it in a style that suits me or the purpose I have in bringing it to your attention, usually throwing in a few wrap-up details in the way of dates or full names or whatever is needed to make it satisfactory. Other times I can find the hint of a story in a missionary's letter, or in an obituary or other newspaper report, or some other document. If I can just get the idea that so-and-so had an unusual life, I can research that life just the same way you might research your grandmother's life, and turn it into a story. Really, I think it is a gift the Lord has given me to be able to read a nugget of history, realize what that nugget says about someone's life and character, and then be able to write it in a way that you recognize the same good traits.

It's Saints like Brother Morgan that make me feel less than worthy to be a member of the Restored Church of Jesus Christ. I am sure that brother Morgan's mission is now in full swing in the spirit world and that there will be thousands who will someday rise up and call his name blessed. With such examples, it becomes self evident that we much constantly redouble our efforts to learn and live the Gospel more fully.
Thank you Ardis, for this historic treasure, it also moved me to tears.
