Star Bright first appeared (at least as early as I can find it) in the Instructor in 1959. This play was written for a local ward in 1960, and submitted to the Instructor for publication in 1961. That timeline does make it likely that it was written to showcase Star Bright, doesn't it?

I would very much have liked to have included Star Bright in this year's musical advent, but unlike the pieces I did post, that one was very explicitly copyrighted. The copyright holder needs to promote it, because it's charming and could very well become popular throughout the church -- it was even published with Spanish lyrics from the very first, making it even more appropriate for a modern church audience!

I notice that the song Star Bright is sung at the end of Scene 1. Was it composed for this little play? I've mentioned before how much we love that song in our area, where it is usually sung at some program every year.
