The music and text go well together, are very sweet, and follow the very common hymn pattern of A-A-B-A’. The text describes exactly what the progression of understanding should be regarding Christmas for a 10 to 14 year old child. (Compare the Christmas chapters in L.I. Wilder’s “By the Shores of Silver Lake” and “Little Town on the Prairie” describing celebration in the late 1870s. Compare also with that ubiquitous LDS video about the boy who helps his dad in the barn for a Christmas present.)
