This corresponds to what I remember of my mother’s father, of Scots heritage, who was extremely thrifty and frugal, but was a man of amazing personal generosity. He taught me about the virtues of hard work on his Idaho farm in the summers, and many other important lessons.

Having had a number of occasions to take advantage of the kind hospitality of the Ronald McDonald House, I have had many opportunities to feel grateful for people like the ones in this story who help support children who are having an unusual childhood, at best, and their families.
