“Health Is Abundance of Life”

By: Ardis E. Parshall - August 18, 2009

A page I like from the March 1924 Children’s Friend with another set of great period graphics. Nothing here about appearance, or transfats, or BMI, only a recognition that health is its own reward:

  1. “Can you walk the rail or plank?
When you answer be quite frank.”

    Wonderful. Thanks

  2. That exercise of placing the bottles in hoops looks like a really good one. [thinking up his next YM activity]

    Thanks for this.

  3. I’m guessing, Hunter, that with the picture including little girls watching from a distance, that one was probably a relay race — maybe they had to set the bottles or bowling pins or whatever they are down with enough dexterity not to have them fall and knock the others out of the hoop.
