  1. Wow – this wintry photo really gave me pause. I think I tend to mentally place the pioneers in perpetual summertime, or something. And so to see this photo of the pioneer sculpture with snow on the ground was a good reminder that it probably wasn’t “often singing and dancing, merry and happy” for them. Little Pioneer Children, No. 216, Children’s Songbook.

    (And then the juxtaposition of the temple in the background is superb, too.)
