		<description><![CDATA[Major Richard Young commanded &quot;A&quot; Battery of the Utah Artillery in the Philippines in the Spanish-American War. The Utah units were highly praised for their valor and efficiency in many battles and skirmishes in the Manila area. Two of Major Young&#039;s nephews, John G. Young and Harry A. Young, were killed in the fighting. Major Young also served as an associate justice on the Philippine Supreme Court. Later, Major Young was commissioned a Brigadier General in World War 1 and led an infantry brigade in France. He died of appendicitis in 1919.]]></description>
