O Come, O Come, Emmanuel: December 8

By: Ardis E. Parshall - December 08, 2008

Hush, all ye sounds of war, ye nations all be still,
A voice of heav’nly joy steals over vale and hill,
O hear the angels sing the captive world’s release,
This day is born in Bethlehem the Prince of Peace.

No more divided be, ye families of men,
Old enmity forget, old friendship knit again,
In the new year of God let brothers’ love increase,
This day is born in Bethlehem the Prince of Peace.

– William H. Draper

  1. These are so lovely! I am quite enjoying them–the advent stuff on various blogs is keeping me in the Christmas spirit as various forms of evil illness run the gamut at our house. I’m tempted to turn some of these into my cards this year.

    Thanks, Ardis!

  2. I love this painting. My grandparents put a print up at their cabin, so it has sparked my imagination since I was a very young child. It was great to see it here; I’ve never seen it anywhere else.

    This advent feature is great!
