I don't know if you realize it, but your comment on my blog over a year ago got me very interested in the people surrounding the events at Cane Creek.

I would love to talk to you about what you know of those who stayed (or returned) to Cane Creek after the massacre. You can contact me at my site above or directly at bruce_crow@yahoo.com

Could you please state as to whom the person in
Hickman county is. This property at the time was
Tom Talley's property. We believe this picture is of Bashie, Ora, Charles Prince, and Joe thomas

The young boy in the 1944 picture is alive and well in Hickman Co. TN. He gave me a copy of the newspaper article a few month ago.
We do some genealogy together.
He not only descends from Elisha Talley but Robert E. Griner (owner of the Griner Inn where Merewether Lewis died).

I too have tried to compile lists of the people who left the area after the massacree.

Thanks Ardis. You make me sound like a real historian. :)
J.R.Hudson's non-membership isn't the only mistake perpetuated by experts. One historian claimed the Condor house was still standing in 1958 and even photographed what he thought was the home. Some photographs in the Tennessee State Archives identified the grave marker in the first picture as being for the two "missionaries" shot and named them Hudson and Condor.
