A freind had mailed me copies of some old articles about the West Dallas Chapel and C.C. Booth. I am teaching seminary and have given my class the assignmet of finding out all they can about Brother Booth, his family and the West Dallas Chapel. They are interviewing elderly members who have been in the Dallas area for many years. My Uncle just refered me to this site and your article. Do you know whatever happened to the chapel or to C.C. Booth? I searched for the location of the chapel last week and found the property where I think it used to be. The address no longer exists. Thanks,

Thanks, all. He's somethin' special, all right.

One reader asked about C.C.'s family. He was married to Nettie Mae Ralston, and he had a daughter, Carlene. His father was also a generous man -- one report said he had to be watched to keep him from taking his shoes off and handing them to the first "bum" (the word used in the report) that he saw. Both grandfathers were Confederate soldiers.

As one who grew up in Dallas, I really enjoyed this piece of history from the Church there. Thanks for going to the effort of posting this. It sounds like C.C. Booth's life and experiences would make a great church film.

I have to agree with the previous posts; this is truely a Christian in every sense of the word.

I think one of the major developments of the Church in the 20th Century was the establishment and growth of the Church on the periphery. We often attend the temple in Dallas and it is amazing the growth of the Church in that area since the 1940s!

Enjoyed this very much.

Great story and the follow up discovery is great as well. This is the kind of charitable love that we are all asked to aspire to, and is often so difficult to achieve. You continue to inspire us, Ardis, as much as the wonderful folks you tell us about.
