Re #4 I agree on the first two (shallow thought and lack of evidence) but I’ll have to take issue with the third (the religious right thing). It seemed to be tinged more with a post-modern banality.
I’m blushing. To have so many eminent scholars do me the honor of leaving such thoughtful and detailed analysis of this, my maiden post, leaves me nearly speechless.
I shall of course take all your criticisms into account as I revise this article for publication in an academic journal.
